Have you heard of Google Voice yet? Well, I heard someone talking about it on a webinar that I attended a few months ago and immediately began doing some research to find out what it was and whether or not it could be an asset to me in my business. What I found out was so impressive that I wanted to share the information with others.
At the time, I was at a point in my business where I wanted a phone number specifically for business purposes, instead of giving out my personal cell phone number to everyone. I didn’t want to add another phone line to my cell phone account, I didn’t want to invest in a 1-800 number and I really wasn’t interested in incurring any additional expenses to my monthly budget. So, I wondered how I could get a business line with a voicemail box that I could use specifically for business without paying for it. That’s when Google Voice came into my life.
I filled in the form at their website to be added to their waiting list and a few weeks later, I was sent an email letting me know that I was approved to begin using the service. The timing couldn’t have been better!
I soon learned the power behind Google Voice and the many benefits I could get from it.
With a Google voice number, I got:
* One number for all my phones
* SMS messages via email
* Block unwanted callers
* Low cost international calling
* Conference calling
* Screen callers by hearing who is calling before picking up the phone
With Google Voicemail, I got:
* Transcribed voicemail online
* Custom greetings for callers
* Forward, embed or download voicemails
The best part is I get my voicemail like email, call routing, voicemail transcription and more for FREE!
What I absolutely LOVE about this is the mobile application for my phone that allows me to dial people from my Google Voice number straight from my cell phone! It’s like having a personal phone and a business phone in one – I love it. This makes my business much more mobile and I can return business calls from my cell phone and it masks my cell phone number with my Google Voice number. In addition, I can embed a Google Voice icon on my website, giving people the option of calling me straight from the web page. Genius!
